July was a Crazy Month!
I decided that is was time to really go for it. I got some really good training with Chris Guthrie’s Niche Profit Course.
I’m not a big fan of all these Internet Marketing programs, plans, etc, etc. However, if Pat Flynn was endorsing a product of Chris Guthrie’s then I was intrigued.
For me, Pat Flynn is a trusted dude in this game so I rolled with it.
I was curious and thought to myself. “What’s the worse that can happen?” I’m out about a hundred bucks? (I later realized I missed out on the discount for the Niche Profit Course for listeners and readers of the SPI Podcast and Blog).
Doh!
At any rate, I found Chris’ Guthrie’s Niche Profit Course to be very helpful and I learned a lot from it. If it weren’t for the Niche Profit Course I probably would not have executed and put a lot of things into action.

Let’s Look at July’s Goals
I accomplished 6 out of 9 goals for July.
I’m a little bummed about not having an App out in the App Store yet but as I have found out it is quite the process. I’ve also found that hiring a programmer for iOS costs more then I originally heard about and anticipated.
That is okay though. Chalk it all up as a learning experience!
July’s Goals:
400 Unique Visitors to iWings.net – 426 Unique Visitors
Post iPhone App Job on oDesk or Elance – Posted on oDesk
Hire iPhone App Coder/Developer
Complete iPhone App and have iPhone App in the Apple App Store
Generate 10 dollars in one day with Google Adsense – Highest Grossing Day/Amount: July 18, 2011 @ $13.56. I think it might have been a fluke though…
Finish 3 Micro Niche Websites – I blew past this goal. I bought 23 domains for the month of July.
Get 200 Twitter Followers – Currently 244 followers.
Generate $100 in Google Adsense Revenue – Done. Yay!
First off. What’s crazy is that for the first time ever I made $100 dollars with Adsense. On Jul 18, Google Adsense pulled in a whopping $13.56.
Well, that’s huge for me.
Let’s Take a Look at the Numbers!
It’s not much I know, but it’s a start. You have to start somewhere, right?
Adsense Revenue: $103.37
ClickBank: $44.36
Amazon $0.72
Chitika $0.59
Total Passive Income for July: $149.04
Ta Daa!
I’m pretty happy with that at this stage. It’s not a enough to live off of, I know, but it is a start.
I’m really eager to get some Apps into the App Store to see how those will perform and how well iAds will convert.
I have begun to realize that it is quite the process setting everything up and getting everything into place so that you can develop and test Apps on your iPhone.
It’s quite the process!
August o’Clock
What does August have in store for me? I don’t know Hopefully more money!
I am confident that in August I will have my first App in the App Store so that will be a very good thing. With that said I am looking forward to posting my earnings from iAds next month alongside all of my other earnings.

Thank you for stopping by and thank you for your time. I really do appreciate it.
Cheers!

I see that you have found it tough to get apps in the store too! You are not coding it yourself right? I think I am going to take this route now and use elance or odesk. It would be good if you could keep some sort of report on your progress for this! $150 bucks a month is great! Well done!
Thanks Ramy!
I haven’t submitted any Apps yet as I’m still in the very early stages of development. Were you coding your Apps yourself? Did you submit any Apps? I’m interested in any difficulties you may have come across.
I found that with Elance and oDesk that it was a very difficult to make it clear as to what I wanted for my App.
It is a difficult process.
Well done Cal! Great earnings report. Keep it up.
Thanks Jeremy! I appreciate it.
Cheers.
Congratulation, that is a great amount you made online. Btw, your blog remind me of an old friend
Thanks Norhafidz! I’m learning from the best!
Cheers.
Meeting those goals is pretty awesome. I think I will start setting more specific goals for myself. I only have about two sites that I am trying to monetize with adsense and it is not going that well. I added some more content to one of the sites and I am definitely seeing more and more visitors. How many sites do you have up generating adsense income?
Hi Matt,
Thanks!
How old are your two sites? How well are they ranked?
For July I had 16 sites that made money from Adsense. Six of those websites were developed in July. Meaning, I bought the domain, built the site, did some back linking, etc. So, they don’t get a lot of traffic yet.
What sort of iPhone apps are you making, are they to do with this site?
Nope. Just free iPhone Apps with iAds on them.
I have a pretty decent amount of extra cash available and I want to start investing in real estate to generate passive (rental) income or quick turnaround profit, but I have no idea where to start. The current market seems like it would be a great one to jump into due to very low prices. I read Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad recently. I definitely want to start making my money work for me and not the other way around. He makes it seem so easy to buy and sell properties, especially during a down market, with putting up very little money.
Maybe start out small to test the waters? I’m always a bit wear of the Real Estate market, especially after these last couple years. Investing just doesn’t feel safe anymore. Maybe start buying up Gold? That seems to be the way to go.
I’m looking for the IRS definition of passive income that might be acquired by persons on social security retirement or disability. I was told passive income is not reportable or taxable as regular income, wages, self employment income, etc. But it would be reportable of course, if the passive income was from stock sales. So, what is the IRS definition of passive income and some examples of the types of income that are considered passive. Thanks.
Great comment!
I did a little bit of digging around and found this information.
Taken from Wikipedia, some examples of passive income are: Earnings from a business that does not require direct involvement from the owner or merchant; Rent from property; Royalties from publishing a book or from licensing a patent or other form of intellectual property, such as computer software product; Earnings from internet advertisements on websites; Dividend and interest income from owning securities, such as stocks and bonds, is usually referred to as portfolio income, which may or may not be considered a form of passive income. In the United States, portfolio income is considered a different type of income than passive income; Pensions.
Investopedia States:
As with non-passive income, passive income is usually taxable; however it is often treated differently by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Of course, I am sure that tax laws on passive income would vary from country to country.
