I know. I’ve heard it over and over for years and years. You think I would have known better by now. All this talk about back linking and how important it is. Maybe it was the lackadaisical side of me. Perhaps it was the side of me thinking that if my website is that good enough, then I wouldn’t need to worry about back linking.
In hindsight I tend to think it is a little bit of both.
I never really put back linking into practice much. I would simply build my website, add my content and let the web and all it’s glorious users do the rest.
Well, I was wrong.
While just planting a seed or launching a website does work in regard to having a live website and your own little corner on the WWW. Leaving it there without any sort of SEO or Back Linking is not really the best first steps into launching a website that you are trying to monetize and earn passive income with.
Recently I wrote about my experience with my first mini-site using the Niche Profit Course and how fast I was ranked on the First Page of Google.
The First Page of Google – Pretty Cool!
It is hard to say exactly why I showed up on the first page of Google so quick. I did notice a climb in my Google Rank when I started to consistantly work on building links back to my niche site. I jumped from the bottom of the first page of Google by 2 spots. I was stoked!
Back Linking – We All Hate It
It is no wonder that a lot of Internet Marketers, SEO Gurus, and Affiliate Marketers Outsource their Back Linking. Let’s be honest. Building Back Links Sucks! It’s not fun, it’s boring and it’s monotonous.
That is why I recommend the following:
I know it sounds like a no brainer but at least you will stay productive and continue to build consistent back links to your nice website.
- Just do 1 or 2 Back Links a Day
- If you find that you are bored or idle, not doing anything. Grab your MacBook (You Do have a Mac, Right!?) and add a back link.
- Make a big fat list of all the sites that you want to use to get a back link from.
When you wake up and login to check all your eMail, Tweets, Facebook, etc. Just add one back link real quick. It’s a pain, I know, but do it, get it over with then change your status on Facebook.
You’ll find that since you are bored you may as well add more.
Then slowly make your way through it. Take your time and do it over a period of a week or two or more. Don’t take all day and add fifty-gazillion back links to your site all at once. It is not natural and very unOrganic.
Google will love you much more if you add your back links this way.
Sitting Pretty
I’m now sitting pretty with a Google Page Rank of 7. Not the top 3, I know but I’m pretty happy with that considering I have passed the actually companies website as well as another website with over 1000 back links coming into it which I didn’t think was going to happen. That would be the bonus that Google gives you for having a .com and having the keywords in your domain. Good Stuff!
Over time I will continue to add back links to my niche site. I know it will be hard to ge to the top 3 but I think with enough time and persaverence it is possible.
What About You?
How much time and effort do you spend back linking? How many do you generally do in a day or over a week? At what stage do you stop back linking to your niche site?

Hey great work on getting up there. I am working on my backlinks right now. I like your idea of the list. I added all my blogs to post on yesterday on my list. I have 24 so far. This week I am going to find targeted blogs in my niche and add them to the list. What do use to track your keyword rankings? I use Traffic Travis.
Thanks.
My partner and I stumbled over here coming from a different web page and thought I might check things out. I like what I see so now i’m following you. Look forward to looking at your web page for a second time.
